Author Guidelines

Criteria for Manuscript Submission

Each manuscript should be written in clear, accessible academic language with logically structured and coherently presented arguments. While maintaining scholarly standards, ETD recognizes the value of diverse research approaches and emerging scholarly perspectives in teacher development. ETD encourages submissions that offer fresh insights and thoughtful analysis, even if they challenge conventional research paradigms.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines and Formatting Requirements

Once authors have decided to submit a manuscript for publication consideration in the ETD, it is vital to carefully read all of the submission guidelines.

  • Language of Publication: English.
  • Manuscript Style: APA (Publication Manual of The American Psychological Association. 7th ed., 2020). For frequently asked questions about APA style, consult the APA website at http://www.apastyle.org.
  • Manuscript Length: Please refer to the categories of articles section.
  • Manuscript Format: Click here for the manuscript submission form and download the template through the template link provided therein. Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the template.
  • Submission Requirements:
    1. Submit your manuscript along with a cover letter from the manuscript submission form. Research-based articles must include an abstract of no more than 200 words. While abstracts are optional for other types of submissions, they are encouraged.
    2. Authors should also list up to 5 keywords for their submission.
    3. The manuscript must be original and unpublished in any other journal or publication. To ensure blind review, authors should remove all identifying information, including names and affiliations, from the manuscript. References to the authors’ work should be anonymized in the text and reference list to maintain confidentiality during the review process.
  • Concurrent Submissions Policy: The journal does not accept manuscripts that are under consideration at other publications. Authors must disclose any related works that have been published or are currently under review elsewhere. This includes similar versions or adaptations of the submitted manuscript.
  • ETD Multiple Submissions: Authors are requested to wait for an editorial decision on their current submission before submitting additional manuscripts to ETD. This policy helps to ensure efficient processing of all submissions.

Reviewing Process

ETD follows a systematic review process to maintain the quality and suitability of all submissions. Upon receipt of a manuscript, initial screening is conducted to check for compliance with basic language requirements and formatting guidelines. If significant errors are identified at this stage, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding with the formal review process. Once a manuscript passes this initial screening, it moves forward to peer review.

The peer review process involves evaluation by two reviewers who are selected based on their expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers typically complete their assessments within 4 weeks, though this period may extend to 6 weeks depending on various factors such as reviewer availability and the complexity of the submission. Each reviewer provides detailed feedback and recommendations that help inform the editorial decision.

The editorial team carefully considers all reviewer feedback before making a final decision, which may include acceptance, revision (minor or major), or rejection. Authors will be notified of the decision and provided with comprehensive reviewer comments to guide any necessary revisions.

Following review, if the manuscript requires major or minor revisions, please revise it based on the reviewers’ feedback and submit a response to the editors within one month. Once approved, the manuscript will be forwarded to our proofreader. The manuscript will be returned to the authors for final verification upon completion of proofreading. However, if there are excessive issues with grammar, spelling, citations, or any other fundamental aspects of research writing, the editorial team will ask the authors to re-submit the manuscript.

Communication Guidelines

To maintain smooth communication throughout the review and publication process, authors must provide a regularly monitored email address upon manuscript submission. The editorial team strongly recommends providing an email address that is checked regularly and adding the journal’s editorial email address to your safe senders list.
